How to Upgrade Items in Pokemon GO

Upgrade is one of the most sought-after items in Pokemon GO. It lets trainers evolve Porygon into Porygon2 and it also gives them a chance to progress in their Pokedex.

Incorporating organic components into an upgraded item will increase the experience multiplier, while mechanical components will decrease it. The best combination is a high experience-multiplier organic component followed by a low-experience-multiplier mechanical component. This will maximize the experience you acquire and allow you to move on to the next level.

It's important to know how the upgrade system functions to maximize the benefits of your upgrades. The system keeps a running total for the item that you are upgrading. Each component has an experience multiplier that can be negative or positive. When the total reaches an amount that is certain the system resets it to zero.
